¿What is G Infrastructure manager?

¿What is G Infrastructure manager?

GIM is a tool for the automation of IT processes. This tool can deploy and configure middleware or applications in a coordinated manner in the context of a given infrastructure. Its main objective is the reduction of costs in complex systems deployments as well as in the operation of such systems.

The product’s main feature is based on the definition of deployments by simple and independent code recipes. These recipes define the deployment and its behavior when faced with infrastructure changes. The core of the product interprets such recipes and is able to respond to administrator’s changes, such as, the inclusion of a new node, the firing of the necessary events to keep the coherent, for example, adding a new node to a load balancer and activating it in the monitoring.

• Transforms deployments into source code, describing in a precise manner the behavior when faced with infrastructural changes.
• Deploys and configures middleware and applications in a coherent way.
• Version control available for the infrastructure, the middleware and the applications.
• It is vendor-independent of the virtual infrastructure. GIM provides a set of plugins that allow binding to the infrastructure as a service, both on-premises and off-premises.
• Integration with authentication systems such as LDAP, OAuth2, CAS.
• Open communication interface APIs exposed.
• Contains an engine that determines the best IaaS provider based on certain criteria, such as: SLA, price, availability of Virtual OS images.
• Performs reconfiguration of middleware (application servers, web servers, software balancers, etc.) and applications (iParticipa, isocloud, etc.) to an infrastructure change (adding a new fronted).

GIM Benefits

GIM Benefits

Reduced operating costs: automating repetitive processes leads to a reduction in operating costs of infrastructure, both in initial deployments and changing topologies of already deployed infrastructure.

Modularity and reuse of deployments: the different parts of the deployments can be reused in other deployments with the same functional requirements, such as the installation of a Tomcat application server.

Extensible: GIM can be extended by plugins that let you work with a wide range of IaaS infrastructure providers.

Integration with the iCloudBroker Marketplace: GIM provides mechanisms to integrate with ICB-SP (REST API) to offer the sale of applications and services in the marketplace as well as the integration of generic applications.

Integrated billing: Allows billing services through a control API that provides access to GIM’s events, as an added value, GIM is integrated with iCloudBroker, which provides a comprehensive management and billing interface.
