PaaS Overview

G Platform as a Service Overview

The G Platform has emerged from an application server to a cloud native platform that also includes DBMS, BPM, portal and middleware technologies combined with a kit of tools for building, deploying and running applications and services.

From the development and deployment tools, G supplies a development framework and runtime container that supports user interface, business logic, service and integration, data access, communications capabilities and supports infrastructure capabilities such as authentication, authorization, session management, transaction integrity, reliability, availability, and scalability.

GPaaS provides a development environment named GDeveloper to customize web forms and new UI based on HTML, JavaScript, and Cascading Style Sheets and a collaboration environment named GPortal that makes it easy for people to work together using social network and web 2.0 development features.

GDeveloper and GPortal are tightly coupled with the G Platform which provides the cloud computing characteristics like self-service, elastic and scalable, and virtualized and dynamic in addition of the application server functionalities.

  • Data management from multiple databases: G can get data from different sources in a single query. This is due to the virtual cache facilities that also allow developers use only one path to access data.
